Casting call for filming of new Batman

Christian Bale is Batman. Anne Hathaway is Catwoman.
But maybe you could fill the role of "Businessman," or "Lady Whose Purse Is Snatched."
Casting agencies are looking for extras to play "victims and perpetrators within a city besieged by crime and corruption" for the filming of "Magnus Rex," the working title of a Warner Bros. Batman movie being shot in Pittsburgh this summer.
An ad posted by Smith & Webster-Davis Casting and Nancy Mosser Casting invites auditions from men and women ages 18 and older, of all ethnicities.
Specific roles include prisoners, thugs, guards, police officers, businessmen and businesswomen, and sports fans of "all types."
Area comic book stores, such as West Manchester Mall's Comix Connection and Planet X Comics in York Township, are advertising the casting call.
Lots of fans: Comix Connection manager Jared Wolf said he thinks there are some local Batman fanatics who will make the drive for casting calls this weekend and next.
"There's a lot of Batman fans in York," he said. "Batman fans are probably one of the biggest groups of fans in York ... Some have Batman tattoos."
He said some comic fans prefer Superman, who's "sort of a Boy Scout good guy, always-do-right," while others like the darker character in Batman, who's "brooding, vengeful ... because his parents were killed by criminals."
Batman fans would have the chance to be involved in a highly anticipated movie, the third and final installment of Chris Nolan's trilogy, he said.
Popular movies: Kim Fling, a co-owner of Planet X Comics in Queensgate Towne Center, said she linked the casting call to the shop's Facebook page but few people showed interest.
There are lots of local Batman fans, she said, but people might be too busy to drive about four hours to participate in filming.
Regardless of whether or how many locals are cast, the release of the movie next year is going to be "huge" for her store, she said.
Fling and her husband chose their location because it's in the same shopping center as Frank Theatres; movies involving popular characters, such as the recently released "Thor" movie, drive crowds.
